On Saturday (Nov 25), Beyoncé held the world premiere for her tour documentary Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé. Although she was fashionably late, Queen Bey walked into the event posing in a strapless silver Versace gown, paired with matching long gloves and sandal.
“@beyonce, you are a vision in Versace,” Donatella Versace wrote on Instagram. “You are unique. One of one, the number one, the only one!!! I can’t wait to see the Renaissance tour movie.”
The 29-time Grammy winner topped off her dazzling look with long, bleach blonde hair, which sparked skin bleaching commentary on social media.
After catching wind of the viral topic, Tina Knowles sounded off on the critics weighing in on her daughter’s complexion.
On Tuesday (Nov 28) on social media, Tina hit back at the naysayers with a lengthy rant.
“Came across this [photo and video] today and decided to post it after seeing all of the stupid ignorant self, hating racist statements about her, lightening her skin, and wearing platinum hair wanting to be white. She does a film, called the renaissance, where the whole theme is silver with silver hair, a silver carpet, and suggested silver attire and you bozos decide that she’s trying to be a white woman and is bleaching her skin? How sad is it that some of her own people continue the stupid narrative with hate and jealousy. Duh, she wore silver hair to match her silver dress as a fashion statement clown. ALIEN Superstar duh! “
Ms.Knowles even mentioned she’s upset with a staff member from TMZ because they reached out to Beyoncé’s hairstylist to see if they had a comment about what fans were saying about her look at the premiere.
“What’s really sad is that a white woman had the audacity to reach out to Neal Beyonce’s hairstylist she was from TMZ to say that the fans are saying that she wants to be white and she wanted to get a statement about it from Neal.”
The 69-year old even referenced Etta James’ blonde hair to highlight that black women have always worn platinum blonde hair.
“Well that made, my blood boil , that this white woman felt so entitled to discuss her blackness. What’s really most disappointing is that the some Black people yes you bozos that’s on social media. Lying and faking and acting like you’re so ignorant that you don’t understand That black women have worn platinum hair since the Etta James days.”
Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, is set to be released in theaters on December 1 and is dedicated to the musician’s late Uncle Johnny, who died of AIDS-related illness and whose inspiration is sprinkled throughout Renaissance. December 1 is also World AIDs Day.
