Issa Rae is reportedly set to produce a remake of the classic movie, ‘Set It Off.’ Now, this isn’t going to be a sequel of the movie, it’s going to be a reimagining of it.
The 1996 movie originally starred Jada Pinkett Smith, Queen Latifah, Kimberly Elis, and Vivica A. Fox. The story surrounded the four women “fed up with by low-wage jobs and broken by institutional violence, who desperately band to together for a series of bank robberies. After initial success, the spree ultimately leads the quartet to mostly tragic ends.”
The remake will reportedly include aspects of the film but the storyline may differ. The movie will be produced by Issa Rae and Montrel McKay, her partner at Issa Rae Productions.
Jada Pinkett Smith recently did an interview where she was asked about the remake. She believes the movie is a classic and should be left alone.
