It’s Your VOICE!..

Our youngest was a high school cheer leader. She did football cheer all through high school. Her last two years she was one of the captains of both the football and basketball cheer teams. This was quite interesting because she was not one to stand before a crowd. When she first brought home a permission slip to cheer as a freshman I said really? You want to cheer? I’m thinking…like stand in front of a crowd open her mouth to get the crowd going….. And the players pumped up? Okay I’m all for it.

I remember the first time I saw her cheer I was so excited. And all I could found myself doing was trying to hear her voice over all the cheer leaders. It was great she was on a team with other teammates and they were with one accord and in sync with one another but all that mattered was to hear my daughter’s voice. I heard her and she brought it!

She had my undivided attention. To hear my daughter’s voice distinctively on that field amongst the other cheer leaders filled my heart and made me so proud of her. They had cheers to encourage the crowd, cheers to encourage the players, and cheers to distract the other team from making a good play or scoring. My daughter did not try this…but the cheer coaches would never let her get away with just doing the cheer steps because she was new to the school and shy and didn’t like to talk much especially in front of a crowd. She had to fully participate successfully completing the cheer steps and speaking the words out loud just like the rest of her team mates.

If that was the case for my daughter’s cheer team, how much more for us spiritually? God our father lo-o-o-ngs to hear our voice. He dwells in the midst of our praise. When we are in the house of God during corporate worship when everyone is singing his praises (which is a major distraction to the enemy) or giving him thanks or cheering the word of God on with an amen, it is important to him that your voice is heard too. He gets excited and he listen’s out for each and everyone’s voice. It is not enough to just try to blend in with your body just being there in the house of God. We cannot hide from him. God wants us fully engaged with our hearts and our mouths. Our specific voice will unlock and activate things in heaven on our behalf. Our specific voice breaks chains of bondage (remember Paul and Silas in acts 16), opens doors and moves mountains. Angels are dispatched when we open our mouths to pray. There are things activated and unlocked in us when we open our mouths to our Lord and Savior and King. No time for shyness. Be bold and courageous as his word says and just like my daughter on the field….go full on and bring it!

What about in your home ….at work or in our car or bus or train or even walking down the street? It is really not enough to wait until you get to the house of God once or twice a week to open your mouth to Him. There is no way our spirit man can be healthy that way. It is key that we give him the glory in  other places outside of the house of God. It is important to make it a part of your life and your daily routine. It could be the smallest whisper where the natural ear cannot hear or distinguish who’s voice it is, but our Father and King knows who is who and can hear it all.

Don’t ever think your voice is not significant. It is just as valuable as the ones you hear on a public platform or in a corporate meeting. Man may have voice preferences and can do without some voices in life and that is okay because man …that’s us….as in mankind is limited. Who cares if no one is calling your name, you call on His name because he is absolutely calling yours. God our Father doesn’t want to go a day without hearing your voice. He is the one that matters the most and know that you matter the most to HIM.

Scriptures:

Psalm 71:8-my mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long.

Psalm 105: 1-give praise to the lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.

Psalm 34:15-the eyes of the lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

Hebrews 13:15- by him therefore let us office the sacrifice of praise to god continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Prayer: Father I praise and magnify your Great Name. I thank you that I am loved and valued by you. Thank you for every opportunity I have to approach you and spend time with you. I recognize how significant my voice is to you and declare that I will no longer be distracted by those who do not prefer my voice. Their rejection will never supersede your acceptance of me. I am so grateful that you are not one that would grow tired of hearing my voice. Thank you also for the discipline to know when to silent my voice to hear when you want to speak back to me. For just as my voice is important to you, your voice is important to me. I love you God… Amen
