Ja Morant is out for the rest of the season.
During practice, the Memphis Grizzlies announced the guard sustained a torn labrum in his right shoulder and will be undergoing surgery in the coming days.
It is unclear what happened beforehand for Morant to sustain such an injury but he is expected to make a full recovery at the start of next season. Morant went on social media to post a heart in the midst of the news of his injury.
This season, Ja Morant played in nine games with the Grizzlies due to being suspended for 25 games back in June showing off a firearm on social media. Last season, he was suspended for eight games after flashed a gun at a nightclub in Colorado as well as being tied to incidents where he reportedly assaulted a teenager at his home as well as threatened the head of security at a Memphis mall.
After returning from suspension, Morant put up 34 points in the game and also scored the game-winning shot. So far, he has averaged 25.1 points, 8.1 assists and 5.6. Rebounds during his nine game season.
