Ja Rule did something special for the mothers just ahead of Mother’s Day.

The rapper partnered with Sei Less restaurant in New York City to hold a luncheon for 40 mothers and their children who have been affected by the criminal justice system.

Ja Rule and Ivi Shano, the co-founder of the restaurant partnered up with The Ladies of Hope Ministries and REFORM Alliance on the event to ensure the mothers and their children had a Mother’s Day celebration to remember. During the luncheon, the mothers were treated to some of the restaurant’s popular dishes including chicken satays, filet mignon, chicken wontons, vegetables, and more.

Ja Rule also sat down with them, listened to their stories navigating probation/parole, shared his personal experiences with the criminal justice system, took photos and more, as per the press release.

The Ladies of Hope Ministries is “an organization committed to empowering women to create sustainable lives post-incarceration. They drive change in the social justice movement by connecting them to housing, food, healthcare, living wage employment, entrepreneurship opportunities, education, and more.” While REFORM Alliance works on “transforming probation and parole throughout the United States by changing laws, systems, and culture. The organization is working to replace America’s criminal justice system with a restorative approach that is fair, accountable, and invested in rehabilitation.”
