Jada Pinkett-Smith shares a shocking truth about her marriage with Will Smith.
During a recent interview, the actress revealed that she and her husband have been separated for seven years and that they are trying to figure out what their marriage will look like in the future.
“We’re still figuring it out,” Jada said. “We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.”
The actress talked about her book, which opens about her depression that she started experiencing at the age of 40.
“On paper it all looked grand,” she wrote in her book. “I had the beautiful family, the superstar husband, the lavish lifestyle, fame and fortune.” She also wrote what was really happening behind the scenes.
“I’d fallen into despair and wanted to be on this earth less and less.”
She went on to speak about the night that Will slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars. “I thought, ‘This is a skit.’ I was like, ‘There’s no way that Will hit him’ It wasn’t until Will started to walk back to his chair that I even realized it wasn’t a skit.”
Jada recalls asking her husband if he was okay after the show and realized that he was still on his own journey. “I’m going to be by his side, but also allow him to have to figure this out for himself.”
Will and Jada got married in the 1997 and they share two children together, Jaden,25 and Willow 22. Will also has another son, Trey, 30, whom he shares with his first wife, Sheree Zampino.
