Jaheim was arrested earlier this month and charged with multiple accounts of animal cruelty.
According to reports, the singer was released the next day after his arrest and charged with six counts of animal cruelty. He allegedly failed to provide enough water to his six dogs as well as proper ventilation and sanitary conditions. Jaheim owned four pit bull terriers, a French bulldog, and a hound mix-breed.
This has not been the first time the singer has been arrested for mistreating animals. A few years ago, he was hit with similar charges in New Jersey. In 2021, he was taken into custody for allegedly starving and neglecting 15 dogs, which resulted in one of them dying.
He was charged with “third-degree animal cruelty and failure to provide necessary care to an animal after over a dozen animals located in and on his property in poor health.” Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said in a statement at the time, “Responding Hillsborough Patrol units, upon canvassing the area, located a total of six dogs in separate animal crates in the driveway of a Chamberlain Drive residence.”
The statement continued, “One of the dogs located was initially unresponsive in a water-filled crate and subsequently had to be euthanized. Additional dogs were found inside separate crates, which were partially filled with several inches of water and dog feces. An additional nine dogs were located inside the residence in varying stages of emaciation, without access to food and water.”
Jaheim has not released a statement regarding his recent arrest and release.
