Janet Jackson To Receive The 2025 ICON Award At The American Music Awards

Janet Jackson has been named this year’s recipient of the ICON Award at the 2025 American Music Awards.

The announcement was revealed on the American Music Awards social media pages and announced that Jackson will also be performing, making it her first television performance since 2018. The 11-time AMA winner will join Rihanna and Lionel Richie, who’ve also received the ICON in 2013 and 2022, respectively. In 2015, Janet Jackson received a similar award at BET Awards. 

Jackson also went on social media to react to the honor. “Thank you so much, AMAs!!,” she wrote. “It’s an honor. We look forward to being on your stage again. See you in Vegas!” 

The 2025 American Music Awards will take place at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26. It will air live at 8 pm ET/ 5 pm PT on CBS and stream on Paramount+. Jennifer Lopez will be the host for the night and is also set to perform.
