Texas congresswoman Jasmine Crockett could decide in the coming days whether or not she will run for U.S. Senate.

Per the San Antonio Current, Crockett will make a decision by Thanksgiving. Her formal announcement, whatever that may be, will follow on Dec. 8.

“No one else will know until Dec. 8, but I will know,” Crockett said. “I’ve given myself until the week of Thanksgiving.”

Instagram users delighted at the chance to have Crockett as a Senator. “Jasmine Crockett is a fighter and we need more fighters,” one user wrote.

Another added, “I would love to see her run and win for Texas! She would be incredible.”

The 44 year-old cited polling that shows her running highly competitive in the Democratic primary. “Every other day there’s a poll that comes out that makes it clear that I can win the primary for the U.S. Senate race in Texas,” she said.

An early survey by the National Republican Senatorial Committee of 566 likely Democratic primary voters showed Crockett leading the pack at 35%, compared to former Congressman Colin Allred’s 20%. Hypothetical candidates Beto O’Rourke and U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro both pulled 13%.

That poll, however, did not include Texas state Rep. James Talarico, who has quickly gained traction after announcing his campaign.

“I’m going to be flat out with you and tell you that I don’t think that there’s a Democrat that can take out [GOP Sen. John Cornyn],” she said. “For me, I would be making a very last-minute decision because it’s not just about winning the primary. You gotta win the general.”

Crockett said she hopes that “by the time we start spending money” in the race, voters will know enough about her to get behind her brand of politics, which she defined as aggressively fighting for “vulnerable” people.

“We don’t necessarily need all this machismo directed at some of the most vulnerable people. What we need is people that are going to be strong and fight for the most vulnerable amongst us,” she said. “And I think that that is the brand that I have set out for myself, is that I want to fight for the American dream.”
