A member of Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s security detail was fatally shot by Dallas Police SWAT officers during an armed standoff on Wednesday.
Dallas SWAT officers shot and killed Mike King during a confrontation in the parking garage of Children’s Medical Center Dallas. Authorities said King exited a vehicle and pointed a gun at them, per Dallas Express.
CBS reports the cops then tear-gassed King, prompting him to jump out of the vehicle and pull a gun before he was fatally shot by police.
Officers reportedly tracked King to the location amid an active warrant for impersonating a law enforcement officer. King operated Off Duty Police Services, an online platform that connected North Texas officers with off-duty job opportunities.
His background reportedly includes a criminal history, raising concerns about how he secured roles involving law-enforcement coordination and high-profile protection, per CBS.
King was a visible presence alongside Crockett at various events and during her recent U.S Senate bid. He allegedly supervised security teams at downtown Dallas hotels and managed operations at his church, and reportedly drove a replica undercover police cruiser and used stolen license plates pilfered from cars outside a military recruiting office.
CBS reviewed documents that reveal a man named Mike King was paid for “security services” by Crockett in 2025.
Crockett’s team has not released a statemen as of yet on the fatality.
