Jay-Z has returned to Instagram after deleting his account almost two years ago.

The Blueprint rapper reactivated his account on Tuesday (Aug 29) to promote a film he produced, The Book of Clarence. Written and directed by Jeymes Samuel, the film follows the titular character, Clarence, who lives in 29 A.D. Jerusalem and tries to capitalize on the rise of Jesus Christ.

The rap mogul shared a teaser trailer of the upcoming film, which will star Benedict Cumberbatch, James McAvoy and LaKeith Stanfield. Additional cast members include Teyana Taylor and Caleb McLaughlin undisclosed roles.

The trailer features a reimagined version of Prince’s Purple Rain classic “I Would Die 4 U” over scenes from Clarence’s spiritual awakening.

Jay’s posting of the film’s first trailer technically acts as his first Instagram post. Back in 2021, Jay created his Instagram account to promote another film he executive produced, the revenge WesternThe Harder They Fall but shut down his page a day later. At the time he accumulated nearly 800,000 followers in just a few hours.

The Book Of Clarence is slated to release January 2024.
