Jean-Claude Van Damme has been charged with sex trafficking in Romania.
According to reports, Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism has filed a criminal complaint against the actor, stating that he “accepted sexual encounters with multiple women as a gift.”
Reports also said that the actor met with people who were already under investigation for sex trafficking offenses, and they allegedly offered him “access to five Romanian models.” The alleged incident took place in Cannes, France, which means that French authorities would need to grant authorization for any legal action to happen against Van Damme.
Jean-Claude Van Damme is not the first public figure to be accused of sex trafficking in Romania. In 2022, Tristan and Andrew Tate faced similar charges in the country and were recently allowed to leave the country after being detained in an ongoing investigation.
Van Damme has not released a statement on the allegations, and no additional formal charges have been filed beyond what the DIICOT has filed. The case is currently under review.
