Jennifer Hudson’s wish is finally coming true!
The singer sat down with Ellen DeGeneres earlier this week to discuss her role in the new Aretha Franklin biopic. Although the film is in the early stages of production, Hudson says, “It’s happening.”
“It’s always been my dream to play Aretha. It blows my mind. I’ve always looked up to Aretha and to portray her – I cannot even speak about it because it’s like, ‘Oh, that’s a huge task.”
This isn’t a surprise to some because the 37-year-old was selected to perform at Franklin’s funeral with her rendition of “Amazing Grace.”
Hudson says she has not begun shooting the movie as of yet, but she is ready for the challenge.
“Think about it, like, it’s not just two, three decades of career. This woman had a lifetime of a career. That’s like 70 years. I can’t even begin to imagine how long it’s going to take to cover.”
