Jesse Williams is heading to court again.
The actor is fighting to change his child custody agreement with his ex-wife Aryn Drake-Lee. He is currently seeking equal joint physical custody of his children to have more time with them.
Court documents state that Williams is asking for an alteration to the custody agreement because the current one allows him to “have a maximum of two overnight stays during the school year.”
Williams said in a statement, “There is no question that spending more time with me is in the children’s best interest. The children benefit from the love and stability I provide them, and they continually ask to spend more time with me. I am actively engaged in Sadie’s and Maceo’s lives.”
The actor also argued that his ex-wife has a “bizarre obsession with keeping him from participating in their kid’s extracurricular activities.” His filing said, “I have never refused Aryn access to the children. I constantly try to exemplify normal, healthy co-parenting behavior, hoping that she will see it works better than chaos and conflict.”
He continued, “Aryn’s conduct is the opposite – designed to frustrate my custody and impair my relationship with the children, and she has no concern of the impact her conduct has on our children.”
After being together for 10 years and married for 5, they filed for divorce in 2017. They have been in and out of court fighting over their kids and finances.
Their divorce was finalized in 2020. Williams was ordered to pay $40,000 per month in child support. Both Williams and Drake-Lee were granted joint legal and physical custody of their kids.
