Now that John Legend has reached EGOT status, he’s taking his show on the road as he joins the judge’s panel on NBC’s The Voice.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the 10-time Grammy Award winner will replace Jennifer Hudson in season 16 of the televised singing competition. Legend is sitting alongside returning judges Kelly Clarkson, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton, and host Carson Daly.
Legend released a statement about the new gig via Instagram, saying, “I’m thrilled to join the coaches of ‘The Voice’. I’ve been a guest and mentor on the show multiple times and I’m so excited to discover talented singers and help them make the most of their gift. I hope the world is ready for #TeamJL.”
NBC’s president of the alternative and reality group says he thrilled to have a “one-of-a-king musician and producer” on the show.
“John Legend is a one-of-a-kind musician and producer with remarkable skills that are beyond measure,” he said. “His multidimensional career and incredible talents provide a repertoire that will excite and inspire our artists. This coaching panel is sure to ignite season 16.”
