This past Tuesday, it was reported that a gunman fatally shot eight people, six of them being Asian American at three different spas in Atlanta.
The shooting is believed to be racially-charged and many are calling for awareness to be raised for the increased hate crimes that Asian Americans have been experiencing since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Social Media has shared a large outpour of support for the Asian American community, one of those people is John Legend.
Legend, whose mother-in-law, is from Thailand, took to Twitter to voice his concerns over what happened.
“Absolutely horrible. Sending love to all the loved ones of those whose lives were taken. Our nation needs to reckon with the increased threats being directed at our Asian-American brothers and sisters.” See the tweet below.
