Grammy-winning musician and Louisiana native Jon Batiste has been selected to perform the National Anthem at Super Bowl LIX. The NFL announced the exciting news during its annual Thanksgiving Day games, revealing a star-studded pregame lineup celebrating Louisiana’s rich musical heritage.

In a promotional video, Batiste expressed his pride in returning to his hometown, New Orleans, for “the big game.” He is seen in the video alongside a band dressed in New Orleans Saints jerseys. “It’s an honor to perform America’s theme song on such a global stage,” Batiste shared.

Batiste, best known as the former bandleader for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, has gained widespread acclaim as a solo artist. He won the 2022 Grammy for Album of the Year with We Are and continues to shine with multiple Grammy nominations for his documentary American Symphony. His music consistently reflects the soulful and vibrant spirit of New Orleans.

Other pregame performers also bring a wealth of talent. Trombone Shorty, a New Orleans icon, is celebrated for his energetic fusion of jazz and funk. Lauren Daigle, originally from Lake Charles, Louisiana, is a Christian music star whose crossover hit “You Say” went six times platinum. Ledisi, a powerhouse vocalist, will lead the stadium in the Black National Anthem.
