Last night, we learned that R. Kelly was arrested again while walking his dog in Chicago and indicted on new federal and New York state charges.
The charges are VERY serious, and includes a 13-count federal indictment in Illinois which includes charges of child sex crimes, child pornography, and conspiracy to defraud the U.S. government. His former manager Derrel McDavid, and employee Milton “June” Brown were also charged.
According to CBS, a ten-count indictment against Kelly filed by the Eastern District of New York which includes racketeering, transportation for prostitution and coercion or enticement of a female. He will appear in federal court in Brooklyn at a later date.
In a statement via Lisa Evers, Kelly’s lawyer Steve Greenberg says that they “look forward to his day in court, to the truth coming and to his vindication from what has been an unprecedented assault by others for their own personal gain.”
The indictment includes details that he paid off minors, family members, and business associates hundreds of thousands of dollars to conceal acts.

His publicist Darrell Johnson went in front of reporters to talk about the new charges, when the father and mother of Joycelyn Savage who has been living with R. Kelly, Timothy and Jonjelyn, interrupted the press conference. The two later met in private following the interruption to discuss the whereabouts of their daughter whom they have not seen in years.
The R. Kelly story reached a boiling point following a brand new Buzzfeed report last year from Jim DeRogatis who had been following the story since the early 1990’s. It was Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly series that detailed different accounts from multiple women who had been with the r&b star which resulted in his most recent legal trouble and he getting dropped from his label Sony. Kelly had been planning to release an album in 2019.
