Judge Greg Mathis has been hit with a lawsuit following a confrontation in 2023 in front of his house.
According to reports, the lawsuit states that Mathis was accused of pulling out a gun on Los Angeles municipal worker, Ricardo Acosta. Acosta claims he was working a job with the L.A. Dept of Water and Power when Mathis was pulling out of his garage.
The truck was reportedly blocking the driveway which caused Mathis to get out of the car and approach Acosta. “Move the f*****g truck out of the way,” he yelled. As the argument escalated, Acosta says that he began to stand behind the dump truck in fear of being run over by the judge.
However, Judge Mathis said that Acosta “got smart with him,” and believed that he was being threatened. Shortly after, it was reported that Mathis went inside his house and got his gun. Acosta said that the judge did flash his gun and said that he was going to “bust a cap… you wanna f*** with me.”
The truck was eventually moved and the judge was able to leave his driveway, now Acosta has filed a lawsuit against him. “This unfiled complaint that has been conveniently publicly circulated is a last-ditch attempt by Mr. Acosta to extort my client Judge Mathis, for financial gain,” attorney Anahita Sedaghatfar said.
She continued, “Mr. Acosta’s recitation of the “facts” simply do not comport with what actually transpired during the incident, which occurred over one year ago.”
