Jussie Smollett will head to the Illinois Supreme Court to appeal his criminal conviction.
On Wednesday, the actor won the right to have his case in the Supreme Court where the justices will weigh in on the case. Smollett has been fighting to appeal his case since 2021 when he was found guilty of lying to cops about being the victim of a hate crime.
He would be sentenced to 150 days in jail but would end up serving 6 days. Jussie Smollett reportedly had many appeals before the Supreme Court picked up his case. He argues that his conviction should be thrown out because he claimed that the prosecutors mishandled him during the trial.
Jussie Smollett has not been back to jail since his appeal process and has been focusing on himself in the meantime.
