Is this a closer step to justice?
The four Chicago law enforcers involved in helping ex-officer Jason Van Dyke cover up the 2014 murder of Laquan McDonald, 17, have been fired.
The cop who betrayed his force, Dyke, is currently serving a six year and nine month sentence at a Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Conn., about an hour outside of NYC. Chicago Tribune reports the three officers and a sergeant who helped Dyke commit a crime, were “fired for violating rules of conduct after the shooting.”
The Chicago Police Board made the decision on Thursday (July 18).
11 officers in total were allegedly involved but there’s only been disciplinary action for four. It also Seems unfair that the officers were only fired and didn’t receive and criminal charges.
So it’s a small step closer to justice since the shameful cops aren’t on the streets anymore.
