This is so heartbreaking, devastating, and ridiculous.
According to several news reports, police say a man took 17-year-old Elijah Al-Amin’s life because he was listening to rap music.
USA Today reports 27-year-old Michael Paul Adams admitted to stabbing the harmless teen.
The incident happened at a convenience store at around 1:45 a.m. Adams told authorities he heard Al-Amin listening to music, ultimately minding his own business, and he was “scared.” He admitted to slitting the innocent child’s throat.
Adams told police that people who listen to rap music scare him because he was attacked once. He also told cops that people who listen to rap music are a “threat to his community.”
Adams was arrested and is being held on $1 million bail. His next court hearing is July 15th.
Adams’ legal team claims their client is “mentally ill.” His criminal history includes theft, shoplifting, marijuana violation, disorderly conduct, assault with a weapon and aggravated assault of a correctional employee, according to the report.
