K. Michelle revealed that she was romantically involved with R. Kelly.
During a new appearance on BET’s The Jason Lee Show, Michelle admitted that her feelings for the disgraced singer.
“If it wasn’t for Robert Kelly, I would not know the business,” she said. “I would not understand the skills of songwriting.”
She continued, “I was in love with him.”
I loved Robert Kelly… And I might have loved him, but he didn’t see me as nothing more than motivation for writing. I wasn’t the woman he wanted, even though I wanted him.”
K. Michelle also spoke about how those in Kell’s inner circle and his enablers should receive punishments for their role in abusing his victims
“I think mothers and people should be held accountable,” she said. “Should Sparkle go to prison? Absolutely.”
Sparkle, who broke into the music business as one of Kelly’s protégés, publicly denied claims made by her niece, Reshona Landfair.
K. Michelle claims that people around Kelly knew way more than the divulged.
“What about all the mothers that was in the kitchen cooking?” she said about those who participated in the Surviving R. Kelly doc. “There were mothers in the kitchen cooking. I’ve never lied.”
“If I talk, everybody is going to jail,” K. Michelle said.
KELLY RECEIVED A 30-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE
After decades of allegations, Kelly, in September 2021, was found guilty by a federal jury in Brooklyn on all nine counts of racketeering and Mann Act violations. The verdict exposed a decades-long criminal enterprise used to exploit and abuse young women and minors. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
This was followed by a 2022 conviction in Chicago on multiple counts of producing child pornography and enticing minors for sex. As of early 2026, Kelly is serving a combined 31-year prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Butner in North Carolina, after a federal appeals court upheld his primary convictions and 30-year sentence in February 2025.
