Announced Wednesday, the lineup for the 2023 CMA Awards includes a star-studded mix of first-time nominees, music legends and reigning winners. K.Michelle is one of many country singers to take the stage including Chris Stapleton, Tanya Tucker and more.
The R&B-turned-country singer is set to perform a moving rendition of “Love Can Build a Bridge” with Nashville rapper Jelly Roll. The song was made famous by country duo The Judds in 1990.
In addition to being a first time CMA Awards performer, K.Michelle is one of the newest members to join the Country Music Hall of Fame.
“What an honor to be performing at the biggest night in country music the @cma awards with my Rebel Brother @jellyroll615. We got some legends to honor who changed my life,” K.Michelle wrote in an Instagram post featuring performers for the ceremony.
The Memphis native has always been open about her admiration for the country music duo, The Judds.
“I saw this lady with red hair, which is the reason I wear this red hair now. Her name was Wynonna Wynonna. And Naomi.” She added, “The first time I fell in love with country music was from The Judds.”
