Former Vice President Kamala Harris sharply criticized the current political climate Monday, declaring, “These motherf***ers are crazy.” At a private forum, she offered no apologies for her blunt assessment.
Harris addressed an audience of Democratic donors and activists. The comment came as she dissected what she called an era of escalating hyperbole and unmoored rhetoric. “There is so much about this moment that is trying to make people feel like they’ve lost their minds,” she said. “These motherfuckers are crazy.”
With the 2025 campaign ramping up, Harris argued that the intensity of political discourse has warped public expectations. She told the crowd that attacks and exaggerations have become the norm. Her remark was unfiltered yet intentional.
A Shift in Tone
The vice president’s language marks a clear shift from more guarded remarks. In recent months, she has criticized disinformation, political violence, and media distortion. Now even her tone mirrors the volatility she describes.
She added that she felt under pressure not only by opponents but by internal party expectations. “Everyone’s looking for a thousand-foot drop on me,” she said, referencing the demands placed on modern political figures. She used humor and raw language to break through convention.
Harris also pushed back on narratives painting her as a vacuum for criticism. Her supporters, especially in the #KHive community, have rallied around her messaging at every turn.
Even allies were taken aback. One Democratic strategist said, “She broke from the script — but that may energize her base more than calm critics.” Meanwhile, conservative commentators seized on the remark as evidence of what they call unchecked “radicalism.”
Her use of profanity in public discourse is not entirely new. During a May 2024 event focused on Asian American and Pacific Islander youth, Harris said she sometimes had to “kick that f—ing door down” when opportunity was denied.
Still, Monday’s comment carries far more weight. As a candidate, she now navigates a fine line between authenticity and alienating more moderate voters.
Harris closed by asserting that truth and clarity must break through the noise. “We can’t keep whispering in the echo chamber,” she said. “We have to speak to people who are living in this chaos — and we have to cut through the madness.”
