Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris is preparing to share a deeply personal account of her historic presidential campaign. The memoir, titled 107 Days, will be published on September 23, 2025, by Simon & Schuster. It traces the 107-day arc of her failed 2024 Democratic bid—from launch to concession. The brief duration marks what Harris has described as “the shortest presidential campaign in modern history.”
A Candid Reflection on Campaign Leather
Harris unveiled her memoir in a July 31 video statement. “Just over a year ago,” she recalled, “I launched my campaign for President of the United States. 107 days traveling the country, fighting for our future – the shortest presidential campaign in modern history.” She added, “Since leaving office, I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on those days. With candor and reflection, I’ve written a behind-the-scenes account of that journey.”
She emphasized the memoir’s intention: “I believe there is value in sharing what I saw, what I learned, and what it will take to move forward.” In another line, Harris noted, “In writing this book, one truth kept coming back to me: sometimes the fight takes a while. But I remain full of hope, and I remain clear‑eyed.”
Simon & Schuster CEO Jonathan Karp praised the memoir as a “page‑turning novel.” He called it “one of the best works of political nonfiction Simon & Schuster has ever published,” and said it “captures the drama of running for president better than just about anything I’ve read.”
From Short Campaign to Long-Term Vision
The book documents her rise to nominee after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race on July 21, 2024, endorsing Harris in the process. Her campaign later lost to Donald Trump in the 2024 election. Although she conceded, Harris made clear she would not abandon her core fight: “While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign,” she said in November 2024.
In tandem with the memoir news, Harris publicly ruled out running for California governor in 2026. That decision, she explained, aligns with her belief that her leadership “won’t be in elected office for now.” Observers note that despite stepping back from electoral office, Harris is widely viewed as a possible contender in 2028.
What to Expect in 107 Days
At roughly 320 pages, 107 Days follows her earlier memoir, The Truths We Hold: An American Journey (2019).Readers can expect vivid reflection on campaign highs and lows, behind‑the‑scenes strategy, and personal stakes that shaped her run.
Harris plans appearances to promote the memoir, including a scheduled spot on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The focus, she says, will be service over office and lessons from her historic journey.
“107 Days captures the drama of running for president,” Karp said, calling it “an extraordinary story” and an essential contribution to political history.
