Kanye West will be officially moving on from the Gap.
According to reports, the rapper’s lawyers sent a letter to Gap to end his partnership with the company. His lawyers state that the company had “breached the partnership agreement by failing to release apparel and opening promised retail stores.”
Although the termination is in place the Gap will still be able to sell the current Yeezy Gap products and whatever other products by Ye and Balenciaga that are sold at the Gap will not be affected.
In June 2020, it was announced that Yeezy/Gap collaboration was happening with a 10-year contract. The retail company is required to sell 40 percent of its Yeezy Gap stock in retail locations for the last two quarters in 2021.
New products from the collaborations are set to arrive in stores this fall with the items to be priced under $100. The Gap is also required to open five retail stores specifically for brand collaboration. No announcements have been yet on if and when the stores will be opened.
