Comedian Katt Williams has signed on as an on‑course correspondent for the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he will join PGA Tour Live and work alongside ESPN analyst Michael Collins.

A Follow‑Up to a Guest Appearance

Last year at the Tour Championship, Williams joined Collins as a special guest over a few holes. This new role represents a formal upgrade to a two‑day correspondent position.

Williams will walk inside the ropes on Thursday, August 7 and Friday, August 8, following a marquee group. The tournament continues without him over the weekend.

Williams on His Love of Golf

Williams is a self‑described golf enthusiast. He told The Hollywood Reporter that though his official handicap is 19, he usually shoots in the low 80s. “You certainly don’t want to bet me! I know it won’t be that when I get ready to do it again,” he said. “Eighty‑three is a good and gettable score for me all across the country at excellent courses.”

He added that the handicap arose after he tore his rotator cuff. “So, I came in as a 19 handicap, but I shoot low 80s,” he stated.

Philosophical Outlook on the Game

Williams views golf as more than a sport. “The thing that I like about golf is that it permeates so many different parts of your life,” he said. He added golf does not fix everything, but it “gives you a new parameter for things.”

He also described dealing with bad holes in life and golf alike: “The first four holes not going to your liking? … You can fix this front nine… and level this front nine out to where you can still have a good 18.”

Williams shared his view on missed shots without regret: “I’m to the point where I don’t even really have bad shots… I feel like the ball knows better than me…” That mindset, he says, eases pressure in golf and life.

What It Means for the PGA Tour

The Tour aims to attract new demographics by adding a comedic voice inside the ropes. Williams’ presence may draw fans who otherwise might not follow golf coverage.

This is the first FedExCup Playoffs event of 2025. All 70 qualifying players compete at St. Jude. The field will narrow to 50 at the BMW Championship, then 30 for the Tour Championship. A total prize fund of $100 million and a $10 million winner’s bonus awaits.
