Katt Williams is making big moves! The actor recently purchased a former military base in Alabama to launch a movie studio.
Williams’ publicist, Amy Sisoyev, said in a statement, “I can’t disclose the amount or exact location just yet, but I can confirm that he has purchased a former military base in Alabama.” It’s been reported that Fort McClellan’s Cold War-era barracks in Anniston have been on the market for $1.5 million.
The property is known as “Starships” and it has surrounding property of 30 concrete buildings with three million square feet of indoor space according to Al.com. The property also has 10 barracks with 20 rooms each, more than 90 acres of usable flat land, and two large gymnasiums.
The broker, Connie Alexander, who represented the seller of the property confirmed that it was purchased through an LLC and that Katt Williams visited the property often during the purchase phase.
Alexander said, “It’s a visionary endeavor and we’re excited to see how this historic site evolves under his leadership.” During a recent interview, Williams revealed that he indeed purchased a former Alabama military base sometime this year. Also, he said that he had the dream of becoming a movie mogul like Tyler Perry.
“It’s just not fair to put all that pressure on Tyler Perry,” he said. “He can only do so much.”
