Kehlani’s hit “Folded” is one of her biggest songs to date. At the 2026 Grammy Awards, she won for  Best R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.

“I honestly couldn’t believe it,” Kehlani Parrish told PEOPLE. “And I couldn’t fathom it. Something that I’ve talked about for so long with so many people that felt like a really distant possibility just came into fruition off of something that we just had no idea was going to go this way.”

Kehlani shared the creative process behind “Folded.”

“We just made a song in a room one day and was like ‘This is kinda tight. We should put it out.’  And now, here we are,” she said.

When she took the stage for her awards, Kehlani condemned the actions of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“What I wanna make sure that I say is that everybody is so powerful in this room. And in this room later,” she said.  “And together we’re stronger in numbers to speak against all the injustice going on in the world right now.”

She continued: “Instead of letting it be just a couple of you here and there, I hope everybody is inspired to join together as a community of artists. And speak out against what’s going on. And I’m going to leave this and say, f— ICE.”

Kehlani also shared a post on Instagram to mark her end.

“To one of the most beautiful moments of my life, thank u for the perfect celebratory drink to pair it with,” she captioned the post.

KEHLANI IS WORKING ON A NEW ALBUM

Along with her Grammy wins, Kehlani shared that she’s working on a new album that is slated to drop in the spring.

“I’m about to just turn it in and tap it on the butt and give it to you guys,” she says. “It has a lot of collaborations that I’m really excited about,” said Kehlani. “Some people that I’ve collaborated with a bunch of times. And some people that I’ve never worked with before that I look up to, and I’m excited.”
