Over the weekend, a video went viral of a Sesame Place worker refusing to take a photo with two little Black girls.
Since going viral, singer Kelly Rowland immediately called out Sesame Place and the worker. She reposted the video and wrote, “TF! This just made me so mad!” Rowland also said, “Ok so, had that been me, that whole parade would have been in Flames.”
“Like, are you serious? You’re not going to speak to my child? And did you see that baby’s face at the end? The little one with the pink on? She deserves an explanation. Hello,” the mother of two added.
Kelly Rowland wasn’t the only person to call out the blatant racism in this video. Actor Wendell Pierce retweeted the video and said, “Witness the end of innocence. Witness the trauma. This moment is violent, scarring, and psychological abuse. Watching it reminds me of my own. 4 years old on Mardi Gras Day being denied the joy I see other kids having and the realization the horrible reality. The immediate loss. Pain.”

Sesame Place Philadelphia has released a statement stating that the “no” gesture from the character Rosita wasn’t meant for the girls but for someone who asked the character to hold their child for a photo.
Other people also revealed their videos of Rosita as well as other characters ignoring Black children and strictly hugging the white children. See below.
