Multi-Grammy winning artist Kendrick Lamar, is reportedly stepping into filmmaking with his debut movie, Whitney Springs.

According to HipHopDx, the film starring Chloe East and Celeste Octavia is set to premiere on Paramount+ on July 11. The comedy is being produced by Kendrick and his longtime creative partner Dave Free, along with South Park creators Matt Parker and Trey Stone. The latter will also direct.

The title spread on social media over the past few days, however, neither Paramount+ nor the film’s producers, Lamar and Dave Free, have confirmed the reports.

The synopsis of the film centers on a “black man interning as a slave re-enactor at a living history museum finds out that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his.”

East is best known for her role in last year’s horror film Heretic, while she also starred in Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans and the HBO Max show Generations. Octavia is a relatively unknown actress and model who has previously doubled for Madonna and starred in music videos for the likes of Oasis and Depeche Mode.
