The come-up story of Kevin Durant will soon be headed to your living room.

Netflix is diving deeper into basketball with a new project chronicling the illustrious career of Houston Rockets star forward Kevin Durant.

The series will chart Durant’s life on and off the court: his upbringing in the Washington, DC, and Maryland area, college at the University of Texas, his immediate impact in the NBA, and his role representing the United States in the Olympics.

As the release notes, the series will be directed by Emmy Award winners Michael D. Ratner (Kids Are Growing Up; Justin Bieber: Our World; Dancing With the Devil) and Robert Alexander (A Man Named Scott, SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night, Shaq). Viewers can expect to see Durant’s most revealing interviews to date, with appearances by his mother, father, brother, coaches, and teammates throughout his career.

“Filming for the series began before the 2023-24 season, and will continue shooting into the current season and for years beyond as he approaches the final chapters of his career,” Netflix writes.

That timetable means that the series will presumably showcase Durant’s last two seasons with the Phoenix Suns; his trade to the Rockets in the 2025 offseason, and his time in Houston during the 2025-26 season and beyond.

Durant, 37, a 15-time NBA All-Star has agreed to a two-year contract extension with the Houston Rockets, keeping him with the team through the 2027–28 season. The deal is reportedly worth $90 million, with the second year being a player option, meaning Durant can choose whether to stay for the second year or not.
