It’s official. The 2019 Academy Awards has a new host, and his name is Kevin Hart.
Deadline teased the idea of Hart being the face of next year’s award show when they reported he was being considered for the job, Monday (Dec. 3).
The comedian jumped on Instagram last night to confirm his new gig, telling his near 66 million followers, “For years I have been asked if I would ever Host the Oscars and my answer was always the same…I said that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me as a comedian and that it will happen when it’s supposed to. I am so happy to say that the day has finally come for me to host the Oscars.”
Hart went on to say he’s humbled to join the list of Oscars hosts past.
“I am blown away simply because this has been a goal on my list for a long time…To be able to join the legendary list of host that have graced that stage is unbelievable.”
Kevin promised fans to make the upcoming award show a “special one.”
The Academy Awards are scheduled to take place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Calif on Sunday, February 24.
