Paramount Pictures’s latest feature centers the life of the late Bob Marley.
The official trailer has been released for Bob Marley: One Love. Premiering January 12th 2024, Kingsley Ben-Adir will portray reggae superstar and culture icon Bob Marley in the forthcoming biopic. The film will showcase the early days of his career up to his death in 1981.
According to a statement, the movie was filmed in both England and Jamaica. Some of the set locations includes places where Marley walked, played football and sang such as Trench Town and Bull Bay in Kingston.
Ben-Adir, 37, is known for his roles as President Barack Obama on Showtime’s The Comey Rule and Malcolm X in One Night in Miami. He currently stars on the Marvel Disney + series Secret Invasion.
Marley’s widow, Rita Marley, and children Cedella Marley and Ziggy Marley are producers on the project. The family produced the film alongside Paramount and for them, “it represents the continuation of Bob’s message and growth.”
Ziggy Marley, 54, his eldest son, wrote on Instagram Wednesday, “Nothing happens before it’s time and now is the time for the story of our father Bob Marley to be represented in a biopic theatrical release coming in 2024.”
“You’ve heard the music and you think you know the man but do you really understand what he went through and what moments shaped him into the person he became,” he added.
