KJ Smith and her husband, Skyh Black, had accidentally let the sex of their unborn child slip.
During an interview with People on the red carpet of the BET Awards, the “Sistas” actress was speaking about her pregnancy and how it’s been going for her. She revealed that she is going into her third trimester and the changes she’s been going through, including the cravings she’s had.
Smith said that she had experienced morning sickness and “all the cravings” and went on to say “lasagna and French fries, specifically, did not sit well with her.” Instantly realizing that she let the cat out of the bag, her husband chimed in and said, “She’s been telling me the whole time to keep the secret.” He added, “No, you gotta leave that in though, you did it!” Black said to Smith, asking if the interviewer could take the part about the baby’s sex out of the interview.
The actress also said that she would give her husband the “death stare” so he could keep their baby’s sex a secret. “If you tell I’m going to… Every time someone asks him, I give him the death stare.” Black added, “This whole BET Experience I’m in my head like don’t say this, make sure you don’t say that!”
Smith added, “I have mom brain!” Black spoke about the joy of being a girl dad. “To know that I’m going to be a girl dad… I’ve bought so many things from 0-6 months that she’s telling me to stop. I’m elated.” His wife added, “Every day is a new ‘girl dad’ t-shirt for him and her… he’s like, ‘Look what I got!’”
