Lalah Hathaway’s highly anticipated eighth studio album will be globally released next month.

VANTABLACK was always the name of the project. The word itself has so much weight on it, I was really unsure of how to approach the idea of writing the song,” the five-time Grammy winner noted.

“My new album’ VANTABLACK‘ takes its name from one of the darkest pigments ever created- a metaphor for my introspective journey exploring my identity as a black woman.”

Hathaway continued, “This album is a deeply personal examination of my relationship with my blackness, my place in this country, and how embracing the different facets of my identity has allowed me to feel the most authentic version of myself.”

VANTABLACK will follow Hathaway’s 2018 album, honestly (deluxe edition), an expanded version of her 2017 LP. Featured artists on the new project include WILLOW, MC Lyte, Common, Rapsody, Michael McDonald, Phonte, and Gerald Albright.

“So In Love” serves as the official first single release from the forthcoming studio album. The song finds Hathway expressing being madly in love with her partner.
