Lamar Odom said that he is taking responsibility for his actions after being arrested for a DUI over the weekend.
“I am learning from this experience and remain committed to my continued growth,” Odom told TMZ Sports. “I’ve worked hard to rebuild my life, and taking responsibility is an essential part of that process.”
He added, “I am cooperating fully, staying honest, and focused on moving forward with integrity. Thank you to those who continue to support me.”
Following the incident, Odom denied to the outlet that he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Odom is facing several misdemeanor charges for driving more than 41 miles per hour over the speed limit. Also, he’s charged with “failing to maintain travel in a street lane/improper lane change” on Jan. 17.
Following the booking, authorities released Odom.
Odom has a long history of struggling with addiction. He was unconscious after suffering “six heart attacks (and) 12 strokes” in Oct. 2015. Staff found him face down and unresponsive in his room at the Love Ranch South brothel in Crystal, Nevada. They reported that a “mucus-type liquid” was coming from his nose and mouth.
At 6-foot-10-inch, Odom exceeded the height limits of the available helicopter. Paramedics transported him via ambulance to Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center in Las Vegas. Doctors attributed the incident to a “deadly mix” of cocaine, alcohol, and herbal sexual stimulants.
After the rescue, doctors placed the comatose Odom on life support.
Odom later admitted that he still used drugs after almost dying,
“I can’t even tell you if he was even thinking,” Odom said about the incident.
Appearing on the Australian radio show Kyle & Jackie O Show, Odom recounted his near-death experience.
“I remember on my way to that damn brothel. And I was pset that I didn’t have any cocaine to take to the brothel,” he said. “I had just signed the divorce papers, and I thought I was just gonna go all the way in.”
