LeBron James was a no-show at Monday Night’s Met Gala.

James was to serve as honorary chair of the Gala, along with co-chairs A$AP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, Pharrell Williams, and Anna Wintour; however, just a few hours before, it was revealed that James would miss out on entertainment’s biggest night.

He tweeted, “Unfortunately, because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season, I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on! Hate to miss a historical event.”

The James family was still represented on the red carpet, with LeBron’s wife, Savannah, attending the Met Gala. “My beautiful, powerful Queen will be there holding the castle down as she always has done!”

LeBron James reportedly sustained an MCL sprain during Game 5 of the Lakers’ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. We wish him a speedy recovery.
