Leon Robinson and Elise Neal To Star in Legal Thriller ‘Wildcards’

Renowned actor Leon Preston Robinson, widely known as just Leon, will star alongside Elise Neal, Aries Spears, and Stakiah Lynn Washington in a new legal thriller Wildcards.

With Wes Miller at the helm of production, Wildcards follows a jury deliberating the case of Theodore Sterling (Morrow), a privileged young man accused of sexual assault of a 20-something African-American woman (Lynn Washington).

The prosecution is led by Assistant State Attorney James Jones (Spears), an overworked yet determined prosecutor, who faces off against Greg Sims (Leon), a veteran defense attorney with an unbroken 25-year winning streak.

BLacklight (Call Her King) is financing with Andrew van den Houten, Wes Miller, Joseph O’Connor and Leon producing. Elise Neal, Jessie Jalee, Chad Ghiron will serve as executive producers with Lloyd Watts co-producing.

Leon has earned recognition over the course of his three-decade career playing various memorable roles. He debuted his acting career starring in Madonna’s iconic music video “Like a Prayer.” He later became known for hit movies including, 1991’s The Five Heartbeats, Disney blockbuster Cool Runnings, urban sports drama Above the Rim, and Waiting to Exhale.

NAACP Image Award-winning actress and Memphis native, Elise Neal,  she made her big break appearing in three films, RosewoodMoney Talks and Scream 2. From 1998 to 2002, Neal starred as Yvonne Hughley in the family favorite sitcom The Hughleys.

Miller, a lawyer-turned-filmmaker, jumpstarted his career in film in 2012 with the short film, In Your Hands, which he wrote, directed and produced. In a 2020 interview with RollingOut, the director shared that he felt that filmmaking was is true calling. “About five or six years ago, I decided to sell the law practice and really go all in and learn the craft of storytelling.”
