Levar Burton has landed a new gig. He is now the new host for the National Books Foundation’s award ceremony.
According to reports, he is replacing actress Drew Barrymore. The actress was dropped after she said that she would tape her show while the writers were on strike.
The former Reading Rainbow host said in a statement, “I’m a big believer in the power of the written word, and am proud to stand alongside the National Book Foundation to celebrate exceptional storytelling and the Foundation’s mission to make books accessible to everyone, everywhere.”
At the ceremony will announce a winner from each category; fiction, nonfiction, poetry, young people’s literature and translated literature.
The ceremony will be in New York at Cipriani Wall Street on Nov. 15th.
Congratulations to LeVar Burton on receiving this honor.
