Lizzo is firing back at trolls who body-shamed her with a fat joke.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday (Dec. 4), the Grammy-winning artists had some time to address her haters.
“Today I saw a fat joke about me — in 2025 — and it was viral,” she wrote.
Lizzo said that it was “a dumb joke,” but didn’t reveal exactly what was written.
“They were just laughing at me because I’m fat…. Let me be a reminder to everyone to NEVER let anyone shame you for what you choose to do with your body. Because when you’re big they talk s—, when you’re small they talk s—,” she wrote. “Your body will never be good enough for them because it’s not FOR them. It’s for you.”
“If I get a BBL, mind ur business, if I lose 100lbs, mind ur business. If I gain every pound back and then some… mind ur f**king business,” Lizzo continued.
Last month, Lizzo said that plus-sized women are being erased from society. On her Substack, she wrote that she weighs more than 200 lbs. and is “still a proud big girl.
“So here we are halfway through the decade, where extended sizes are being magically erased from websites. Plus-sized models are no longer getting booked for modeling gigs. And all of our big girls are not-so-big anymore,” she stated. “We have a lot of work to do, to undo the effects of the Ozempic boom.”
“People could not see my talent as a musician because they were too busy accusing me of making ‘being fat’ my whole personality,” she wrote. “I had to actively work against ‘mammy’ tropes by being hypersexual and vulgar. Because being a mammy by definition is being desexualized.”
“And that’s the reality that nobody wants to talk about,” she continued. “We’re in an era where the bigger girls are getting smaller because they’re tired of being judged.”
