Lizzo is serious about manifesting her biggest dreams.
The acclaimed singer said that landing on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit was something she’s been “envisioning” for years. She said she “kind of manifested” the amazing achievement after “building her Yitty Swim brand.”
“I was genuinely excited,” Lizzo told PEOPLE. “I was like, Wow, I kind of manifested this because I have Yitty Swim, which I love. Every time I do Yitty Swim, I always feel like it’s Sports Illustrated level. It’s only a matter of time when these worlds collide.”
Lizzo said that she couldn’t contain her excitement when she found out that she was on the cover.
“I was super excited to do the runway show, and then they were like, ‘You’re on the cover, b—-,’” Lizzo recalled. “And I was like, ‘Hell yeah, bring it on!’ I love it. I love it.”
For Lizzo, this milestone is for all of the plus girlies. She also appreciated that the magazine is celebrating “all different kinds of bodies.” Noticed that the runway show was “really, really cute and fabulous.”
“When I was younger, I saw it and never imagined somebody with my body type would be on the cover,” she said. “It’s just incredible to see how we’ve redefined sexy, redefined confidence and redefined what a swimsuit body is since I was a kid.”
Previously, Lizzo spoke about her vision for Yitty Swim, saying “she wanted the brand to help people feel more confident in themselves.”
“I want people to find a product that makes them feel good,” Lizzo explained. “My goal with Yitty has always been to create something that changes a person’s day for the better and the way they feel about themselves when they walk past the mirror.”
After landing the SI cover, Lizzo is living her best life.
“My newest fantasy is about feeling good in my body and enjoying my life,” she said. “So… I really am just seeking joy.”
