The man convicted of killing 15-year-old Lesandro ‘Junior’ Guzman-Feliz has died in prison.

According to reports, Jonaiki Martinez-Estrella, a member of the Trinitarios gang, was found dead in his cell at Coxsackie Correctional Facility on Friday at 1:16pm. His cause of death is unknown at the moment.

Martinez-Estrella, 31, was sentenced to 25 years to life with the possibility of parole. He was found guilty of second-degree murder in Guzman-Feliz’s death. The whole gang was found guilty of his murder in 2018. The 31-year-old was originally sentenced to life without parole after being convicted of first-degree murder.

His charges included torture inflicted on the teen and convicted of causing the wound on the 15-year-old’s neck, which killed him. In 2023, his first-degree  murder conviction was overturned by the appellate court after a disagreement over the torture detail. Martinez-Estrella was re-sentenced to second-degree murder in May 2025.

On June 20, 2018, the Trinitarios gang went after Guzman-Feliz, thinking that he was a part of a rival gang. Trying to run for safety at the nearest bodega, the 15-year-old was dragged outside and brutally beaten on the sidewalk in the Bronx. He made it to the local hospital where he fell and bled out.

Thirteen gang members were sent to prison in connection to Guzman-Feliz’s murder. Several of them was sentenced to 25 years to life, while others accepted plea bargains for a lesser conviction of manslaughter.
