Gospel singer Mandisa Hundley has passed away at age 47.

It has been reported that she died in her home in Nashville, Tennessee on Thursday, April 18th. Hundley, who went by her first name Mandisa, started her musical journey on season five of American Idol in 2006.

She would go on to finish in ninth place, however, she would go on to have a successful music career as a Gospel singer. In 2007, she released her debut album, “True Beauty,” which debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Gospel Album Charts. Her hit single from that album, “Only the World,” would also become a chart-topper.

Mandisa released a few more albums between 2009 and 2017 and has won numerous awards including a Grammy and Dove award. The singer has also been open about her struggle with depression and stated that she has even contemplated suicide in a previous interview.

At the moment no cause of death has been determined, but we will keep her family and loved ones in our thoughts and prayers.
