Mario Signs With Epic Records + Shares New Single With Lil Wayne and Tyga

Mario

The Baltimore crooner is making epic movies

R&B singer Mario is the latest signee to join Epic Records under his own imprint label, New Citizen. The new milestone not only marks his return to the Sony Music, the parent company of Epic, but also his first major-label deal since 2013.

Mario commented on the partnership in a press release, “Right now, Epic comprises some of the greats in the music game like Sylvia Rhone and Ezekiel Lewis. I’ve been independent for eight years, so this is definitely a new chapter for me and New Citizen. We’re going to be one of the chariots for R&B, and we’re bringing it back.”

It didn’t take long for Mario to release new music under the newly minted partnership. On Friday (July 21), Mario released a new single entitled “Main One” featuring Tyga & Lil Wayne.

A night out in Cali turned into a studio session with Tyga. We went back and forth writing the verses and hook, and I knew Wayne would be the perfect addition,” the Grammy-nominated artist shared. “I worked with Wayne on the ‘Crying Out for Me’ remix so it’s legendary to have three vets on this record!”

It hasn’t been confirmed if the song is a single or will be a part of a future project. However, Mario shared in an interview with Rated R&B that he is focusing on releasing singles.

We previously shared that Mario will be joining Ne-yo and Robin Thicke on the “Champagne & Roses Tour” this fall.
