After 35 years, actor Marlon Wayans can finally hang up his high school diploma.
What was supposed to be just a CBS interview at Wayans’ former high school also became a retrieval for his diploma.
The comedian visited LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts to film a segment about his time as a student there. According to the school’s Facebook post, administrators realized he had never received his physical diploma despite completing all graduation requirements with his class in 1990.
The Scary Movie actor posted a photo on Instagram holding up his certificate to celebrate the occasion. “Just got my LAG diploma….35 years later,” he wrote.
After graduating, Wayans attended the prestigious Howard University for a year. He dropped out his sophomore year to follow in his brother, Keenan Ivory Wayans’ footsteps, who starred in the 1988 Blaxpliotation spoof “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka.”
Wayans then appeared with his other older brother Damon in the 1992 hit comedy “Mo’ Money.” The same year he was introduced to the cast of “In Living Color.” He went on to co-create and co-star with his other brother Shawn in the hit WB sitcom “The Wayans Bros.” for five years.
