Marlon Wayans Speaks Out About Not Being Able to Attend John Witherspoon’s Funeral: ‘I’m Broken Up About It’

News broke that actor and comedian John Witherspoon passed away at the age of 77, on Tuesday, October 29th. His family released a statement, “It is with deep sadness we have to tweet this, but our husband & father John Witherspoon has passed away. He was a Legend in the entertainment industry and a father figure to all who watched him over the years. We love you “POPS” always & forever.”

 

Many celebrities and fans alike have spoken out about Mr. Witherspoon’s impact on the comedy industry, and impact on our lives in general. He was known as “Pops” and will forever be our Pops. 

 

He was known for his role as Pops on The Wayans Bros. sitcom. His co-star on the show, Marlon Wayans, took to his Instagram to express how ”broken” up he is about not being able to attend Witherspoon’s funeral due to having to work. 

 

He states, “Can’t make your send off Pops… I’m broken up about it. Unfortunately, have to work. I know you would tell me “mahlon, go get that PAPER! You better go get them keys..”
