Mary J. Blige revealed that she was exhausted during her tour last year.
During a recent interview. the “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul” shared how the performances took a toll on her. Some fans took to social media to say that Blige seemed like she was tired of being on stage.
”Imma curse really hard. I was f**king exhausted because I was on the 30th of 40 shows,” Blige said.”We were in Chicago, or something like that, and I was exhausted. I was kind of over everything, and I was just tired.”
”I’ve been working hard all my life, and sometimes you get tired. So, for people to be like, ‘Oh, she looked tired.’ Yeah, I was f**king tired. I was,” Blige continued.
Even Beyoncé Gets Tired
Blige said that even Beyoncé gets exhausted while performing numerous shows.
“She’s gonna [move] her neck, whatever she be doing, it’s gonna look like she needs to stop doing it ’cause she’s done it for 50 shows. So I’m like, ‘Shut up with that sh*t,’” Blige said. “Sometimes we get tired, but when we rest, we are on.”
Blige also admitted that she may have been drinking backstage. But now, she’s planning on committing to “Dry February.”
After some much-needed rest, Blige will headline her very first residency in Las Vegas.
Blige Is Headlining Her First Las Vegas Residency
Titled Mary J. Blige: My Life, My Story, the residency is set to launch May 1 at Dolby Live inside Park MGM. It will include 10 performances spread between May and July 2026.
The shows are scheduled for May 1, 2, 6, 8, and 9. A second run is scheduled for July 10, 11, 15, 17, and 18. All performances begin at 8 p.m. local time.
“I’ve been so excited to announce this Vegas residency,” Blige said in a statement at the time. “Creating a show like this has been something I’ve always wanted to do.”
