Congratulations are in order. The queen of R&B Mary J. Blige will receive a Lifetime Achievement award at the 2019 BET awards.
The award show will take place live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, on June 23rd. This honor follows many other awards that Mary has received including 9 Grammy awards. In a statement, BET says, “With a career of landmark achievements, including eight multi-platinum albums, nine Grammy Awards (plus a staggering 32 nominations), two Academy Award nominations, two Golden Globe nominations and a SAG nomination, Mary J. Blige has remained a figure of inspiration, transformation and empowerment, making her one of the defining voices of the contemporary music era, and she has cemented herself as a global superstar. And in the ensuing years, the singer-songwriter has attracted an intensely loyal fan base, responsible for propelling worldwide sales of more than 50 million albums.”
The show will be hosted by Regina Hall. It’ll include performances from Cardi B, DJ Khaled, Migos, H.E.R and many more.
